Delicious Beef Burger Alternatives

You do not have to give up tasty BBQ burgers if you do not eat beef. There are plenty of other ingredients that make delicious burgers. The two recipes below are beef-free and are easy to prepare. Fire up the charcoal grill and try these today because you will be impressed. Now, when guests come over who do not eat beef, you will have some mouthwatering burgers to prepare for them!

Ingredients for Veggie Burgers with Greek Spinach:

• 10 ounces chopped, frozen spinach, thawed and drained well
• 2 eggs, beaten lightly
• 1 clove garlic, minced
• 1 cup herb-seasoned stuffing mix
• ½ cup (2 ounces) feta cheese, crumbled
• ¼ cup olive oil
• 1 teaspoon dried dill weed
• 1 teaspoon dried oregano
• 4 whole wheat hamburger buns, split in half and toasted
• Toppings like sliced red onions, sliced roasted red peppers, plain yogurt, and crumbled feta cheese
• Mixing spoon
• Medium bowl
• Nonstick cooking spray

Step 1: Combine dill weed, oregano, garlic, oil, and ¼ teaspoon of the black pepper in the medium bowl. Stir in the stuffing mix, coating it. Stir in spinach, eggs, and ½ cup of crumbled feta cheese. Mix ingredients well.

Step 2: Shape mixture into four patties, each ½-inch thick.

Step 3: Spray the cooking spray on the grill rack. Heat grill to medium heat. Place the patties on the greased rack and cook until heated through and browned, approximately 3 or 4 minutes per side.

Step 4: Put a patty onto each bun and serve with toppings.

Hearty Pork Burger Ingredients:

• 8 thin slices of ham
• 8 slices of Texas toast
• 1 pound lean ground pork
• 2 cups of packaged shredded cabbage with carrots
• ¼ cup plus one teaspoon barbecue sauce
• 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
• Mixing spoon
• Medium bowl

Step 1: Shape the pork into four patties, each about ½-inch thick and 4 inches in diameter. Grill on medium high heat for between 5 and 6 minutes per side, turning once. No pink should remain on the patties.

Step 2: Combine the mayonnaise, 1 teaspoon of barbecue sauce, and shredded cabbage with carrots in the medium bowl and set this aside.

Step 3: Grill the bread and ham for 1 to 2 minutes or until the bread is toasted and ham is browned lightly, turning one time.

Step 4: Put one burger onto each slice of Texas toast and top it with cabbage and carrot mixture, 2 slices of ham, some of the ¼ cup of remaining barbecue sauce, and another slice of toast.
