If responsibility for the Thanksgiving meal has fallen onto your plate, so to speak, you are probably searching for some recipes. Potatoes are a popular side dish for the Thanksgiving bird but cooking and mashing them can be a strenuous job. Make things easy on yourself and give the oven a rest by preparing this delicious grilled potato casserole that serves four. We know it will become a Thanksgiving favorite!
• 4 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and cubed
• 1 ½ cups milk
• 1 cup onion, chopped
• 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
• 3 tablespoons butter
• ½ cup green bell pepper, chopped
• 1 teaspoon salt
• ½ teaspoon seasoned pepper
• ¼ teaspoon celery seed
• ¼ teaspoon paprika
Step 1: Preheat grill to medium-high.
Step2: Melt butter in a large saucepan on a stove burner set to medium-low. Whisk in salt, pepper, celery seed, and flour. Cook for one minute, stirring frequently.
Step 3: Gradually whisk milk into the mixture. Adjust heat to medium and bring to simmering. Cook for between 5 and 10 minutes or until the mixture thickens and begins to bubble, stirring frequently.
Step 4: Stir in green bell pepper, onion, and potatoes.
Step 5: Place a large piece of heavy duty aluminum foil on a flat surface. Pour the potato mixture onto the foil. Sprinkle paprika on top.
Step 6: Loosely fold the foil around the potato mixture, tightly sealing all edges.
